Kitchen drawer organiser STL with three pockets for small utensils

A 210 by 105 mm bin, 55 mm high, with three pockets for the things that sink to the bottom of a utensil drawer: peelers, bottle openers, measuring spoons, corn holders. This is the free model: the STL is generated by software from your measurements and downloads with no key.

What goes in it

The deep kitchen drawer, the one below the cutlery, holds long tools such as ladles and whisks along with a drift of small ones. This module is for the small ones. Each of its three pockets is about 67.9 mm wide and 101.8 mm from front to back inside, which takes a peeler, a can opener or a nest of measuring cups without stacking. The long tools stay loose beside it, or go in a second bin set to one compartment. At 55 mm the walls are high enough to stop things climbing over when the drawer is pulled hard.

What to measure

Measure the inside of the drawer in three places across its width and take the smallest reading, since drawer boxes are seldom square. Take off 1 mm in total so the bin drops in. Then measure the clear height with the drawer closed: open it a hand's width, hold a ruler upright at the back and read to the underside of the frame or the drawer above. Kitchen drawers often have a low back panel or a rail that the front does not show, so measure there and keep the bin 5 mm below that reading. A 210 mm bin fits the bed of most printers; two of them side by side cover 420 mm of drawer width.

Wall, floor and material

Walls and dividers are 1.6 mm, the floor 1.2 mm. Metal utensils thrown into a pocket hit the walls edge-on, and 1.6 mm, four lines of a 0.4 mm nozzle, takes that better than the 1.2 mm used for desk trays. PETG is the better choice in a kitchen: it tolerates a warm wash, where PLA softens at around 60 degrees and will deform in a dishwasher. Printed surfaces have fine grooves that hold crumbs, so wash the bin in the sink now and then.

Printing

Print with the floor on the bed and no supports. The footprint of 210 by 105 mm is long and narrow, the shape that curls most at its two short ends, so use a brim there if the first layer does not stick well. Two perimeters make the walls solid. The two dividers are 101.8 mm long and joined to the walls at both ends, which keeps the long sides straight.
